Night Shred Review Overview
There are lots of ingredients in Night Shred which do promote deep, restful sleep. But we have no idea how any of them are dosed since Innosupps Night Shred hides everything behind a proprietary blend. This is always – and we mean ALWAYS – done when the formula is being stuffed with cheap filler ingredients. There’s just no other reason to do it. For all we know Night Shred could be mostly valerian root powder. In any case, there arne’t many fat burning ingredients in here, just sleep aids. No powerful fat burners anyway! Better fat burners than Night Shred are available for a lot less money than Night Shred, that’s for sure! At $64.99 RRP this is one expensive fat burner!
What is Night Shred?
Night Shred is a night time fat burner made by Inno Supps. We’ve already reviewed Inno Supps Inno Shred, which is their regular fat burner designed for daily use (spoiler: it isn’t great). Night Shred is their nighttime fat burner, which means it is designed to maximize fat loss during sleep.
According to the website, Night Shred maximizes the quality of your sleep while priming your body to accelerate the fat burning process. Specifically, it claims to:
- Promote REM sleep
- Support high-quality sleep
- Promote digestive health
- Reduce stress and relaxes the body
- Maximize fat burning through natural ingredients
- Reduce food cravings
The comments about REM sleep are particularly interesting here. REM is the lightest stage of sleep where you tend to have intense dreams. Most people find falling into REM very easy; it is deep, restful sleep that is the issue! Most supplement manufacturers confuse the two, which doesn’t speak much of their understanding of the science.
The question we need to answer is, does Night Shred really work? What does Night Shred really do? Are nighttime fat burners safe? Is this the best fat burner for you to take right now? Read our full Night Shred review below and find out!
Night Shred Ingredients
What are the ingredients in Inno Supps Night Shred?
Here is the Night Shred ingredients list as it appears on the bottle:
Here is a list of all Night Shred ingredients and their doses (if we know them):
- GABA – DOSE UNKNOWN
- Chamomile Flower Powder – DOSE UNKNOWN
- Passionflower Flower Powder – DOSE UNKNOWN
- Valerian Root Powder – DOSE UNKNOWN
- Ashwagandha Root Powder (KSM66 Vegan) – 200mg
- Grains of Paradise Seed Extract – 25mg
- CLA (as goFAT) – DOSE UNKNOWN
- L-Carnitine Tartrate – DOSE UNKNOWN
- 5-HTP – DOSE UNKNOWN
- L-Tryptophan – DOSE UNKNOWN
- Melatonin – 3mg
This certainly doesn’t look like a fat burner. More worringly, you’ll notice that almost none of the Night Shred ingredients have their doses listed. This is always a sign that you’re being ripped off; why would a manufacturer hide doses unless there’s something they don’t want you to see?
We’ll now go through the Night Shred ingredients in sections, explaining what each blend does, how it is supposed to work, and whether we think it will really deliver on its promises.
Night-Time Recovery Complex – 510mg
This should be one of the most important parts of the Night Shred formula; the part that promotes deep restful sleep. This is crucial because it is during sleep that you recover from training, and it is during deep sleep that your body incinerates a lot of stored fat. But unfortunately, this blend looks pretty weak.
GABA doesn’t do anything when taken as an oral supplement as it cannot be easily absorbed. Chamomile tea might help you feel sleepy before bed, but studies show no effect on sleep from chamomile supplements. The same goes for both passionflower and valerian root; teas with these herbs might help you feel sleepy and relaxed, but supplements do not seem to improve sleep quality. This is a massively disappointing start from Night Shred!
Natural Adaptogen Compound – 200mg
The Night Shred Natural Adaptogen Compound contains a single ingredient: ashwagandha.
Night Shred contains 200mg of vegan KSM66, which is a highly-bioavailable form of ashwagandha. Ashwagandha is a highly effective anxiolytic; it suppresses cortisol levels, reducing stress and anxiety, and allowing suppressed testosterone levels to normalize.
While the form of ashwagandha being used in Night Shred is excellent, the dose is far below the doses used in the best performing clinical trials on ashwagandha.
PM Fat Burning Complex – 76mg
This is where we expected the majority of the fat burning effects of Night Shred to come from, but again we’re left a little disappointed. The PM Fat Burning Complex doesn’t contain any potent themrogenics, nothing that stimulates lipolysis directly, and nothing that accelerates metabolism. Grains of paradise seed extract is said to be a thermogenic, but there is absolutely no hard clinical evidence showing this to be true. Both CLA and Carnitine are weak fat burners, and to have any kind of effects they must be taken in doses of 500mg plus. The Night Shred PM Fat Burning Blend is 76mg IN TOTAL!
Mood Enhancement Complex – 35.5mg
The Night Shred Mood Enhancement Complex is just as useless as the PM Fat Burning Complex. Clearly someone at Inno Supps has done research into mood enhancing ingredients, but they haven’t considered doses or multiple redundancy. Both Tryptophan and 5-HTP are precursors to serotonin, the neurotransmitter responsible for feelings of joy, empathy and contentment. Both of these subatnces are taken as supplements to enhance mood and promote restful sleep.
However, Night Shred may as well contain neither ingredient. 5-HTP is poorly absorbed in the gut, and what little is absorbed is used by the enteric nervous system in the gut. Tryptophan is much more effective, but the minimum active dose is about 500mg. Night Shred’s mood enhancing blend is only 35mg in total size – PATHETIC!
Melatonin – 3mg
Along with Ashwagandha, Melatonin is probably the only Night Shred ingredient that actually helps you get a better night’s sleep. Supplementing with melatonin has been found in several clinical trials to bring on sleep and promote long, unbroken, deep sleep. Supplementing with high quality melatonin will definitely help you get a better night’s sleep, which will absolutely help you recover from training and lose weight faster.
Formula Review: What does Night Shred really do?
Night Shred claims to do a lot of things. It claims to be an appetite suppressant, a thermogenic fat burner, and a sleep aid. In reality, we don’t think it can really do any of these things very well!
There’s no true thermogenic in Night Shred, so that promise is out the window. There’s no good clinical evidence that grains of paradise trigger thermogenesis.
There’s no appetite suppressant in Night Shred. Nor is there any ingredient known to directly sitmulate lipolysis. The only ingredients that do work are ashwagandha and melatonin, but in both cases the doses are on the low side.
So overall, we don’t really see how this is a night time fat burner. Night Shred much more closely resembles a sleep aid than a fat burner. While this is great if you’re looking for a natural sleep aid, it isn’t great if you want a specialist night time fat burner!
When should I take Night Shred?
Night Shred is designed to be taken at night time right before going to bed. It contains 3mg of melatonin, which has been shown to speed up the onset of sleep. Melatonin typically makes people feel drowsy after about 30 minutes, so try to take it roughly 30 minutes prior to going to sleep. DO NOT take Inno SUpps Night Shred before driving or operating any kind of dangerous machinery.
Can I take Inno Shred and Night Shred together?
According to Inno Supps, you can safely take Inno Shred and Night Shred together in combination. In fact, the two fat burners are listed together as part of a larger stack on the Inno Supps website, so clearly they are meant to be taken at the same time.
That said, we don’t think taking either of these fat burners alone will produce significant results, and we don’t think taking them together will have much more of an impact on your fat loss.
Night Shred Side Effects
It is difficult to talk with certainty about the side effects of Night Shred. We do not know how most of the Night Shred ingredients are dosed so we cannot properly gauge how likely they are to cause side effects.
Some of the side effects reported by Night Shred users are:
- Stomach cramps
The ingredients in Night Shred are not normally associated with severe side effects. They have all been studied in clinical trials and deemed generally safe for humans. However, side effects can occur when taking this many herbal extracts at once.
One thing to note is that Inno Supps Night Shred doesn’t contain any stimulants, so the risk of adverse side effects such as jitters or hypertension is low. This makes sense for a night time fat burner, but you’d be surprised how many do contain stimulants!
Night Shred Review Conclusion: Is it a good nighttime fat burner?
Night Shred is one of the most popular night time fat burners on the market. But after doing a full review of Night Shred – looking at the ingredients, doses, side effects, price, pros and cons – we have no idea how it has become a market leader. Night Shred is far from a great night time fat burner; in fact, we aren’t even sure we can call this a fat burner!
The Night Shred formula is almost entirely made up of ingredients thought to be natural sleep aids. Of these, only a couple actually promote deep, restful sleep; the rest are either not digested, have low efficacy, or have never been proven to work. Since the Ashwagandha is dosed so low we think you may as well just be taking a melatonin supplement instead which would save you a lot of money.
As far as fat burning goes, Night Shred offers practically nothing. CLA has been found to have very mild fat burning effects, but only when consumed in very large doses. The fat burning blend is only 76mg in total size, while the minimum active dose of CLA is about 500mg. Grains of paradise have never been proven to increase fat loss in independent clinical trials. This makes the fat burning component of Night Shred absolutely useless overall, so this really isn’t much of a fat burner in the end!
The biggest issue with Night Shred is the use of proprietary blends. We have no way of knowing how any of the ingredients are dosed. Any one ingredient could make up 99%v of any given blend. In our experience, this is only ever done to rip off customers; there’s simply no other reason for a manufacturer to do this! Intellectual property doesn’t really count when using natural ingredients with known optimal doses.
Overall, Night Shred looks like a natural sleep aid dressed up as a fat burner. While it might promote deep sleep, it will not help you lose weight any faster. There are better sleep aids out there, and there are definitely better fat burners too!
