The SouthEastern Aerosol Research and Characterization Study experiment is a public-private collaboration between the Electric Power Research Institute (EPRI) and Southern Company to establish a detailed aerosol climatology for the Southeast. SEARCH operates a network of ground-level monitoring sites in Mississippi, Alabama, Georgia, and northwest Florida that measure the mass concentration and chemical composition of fine particulate matter in the atmosphere. The purpose of these measurements is to provide information for determining the sources and potential health effects of these particles.
ARIES is a large epidemiological study of the effects of air pollution on human health. The study, which is being conducted in Atlanta, Georgia, is designed to investigate associations between specific air quality parameters and human health in order to improve understanding of which components of the air pollution mixture are associated with observed health effects.
The Carbon Dioxide Information Analysis Center (CDIAC) is the primary climate-change data and information analysis center of the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE). CDIAC is located at DOE's Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL) and includes the World Data Center for Atmospheric Trace Gases.

CDIAC's data holdings include records of the concentrations of carbon dioxide and other radiatively active gases in the atmosphere; the role of the terrestrial biosphere and the oceans in the biogeochemical cycles of greenhouse gases; emissions of carbon dioxide to the atmosphere; long-term climate trends; the effects of elevated carbon dioxide on vegetation; and the vulnerability of coastal areas to rising sea level.
